We are just now kind of sort of catching up with ourselves around here...
Maybe that’s true. Or maybe it just feels that way because here on Cape the rain has stopped (for a bit) and all sorts of green and yellow and purple and white living things are popping up out of the ground, preening for the sun.
And that feels really hopeful. (I’m a sucker for perennials. Every year they surprise me.)
The days feel longer - we are up earlier, out with Koko in the yard later, and being outside without layers upon layers of thick clothing feels freeing. (Though dear Brian still has his full out chunky winter coat on the hook... I keep telling him how much he would love hot flashes... I’d gift them to him if I could...)
Maybe we feel lighter because we’ve crossed off some big things on the list, maybe it’s because we’re just over the nonsense of unnecessary madness, or maybe it’s because we’ve come to see our lists less as things to-get-done and more like wish lists...
I’m not sure.
But I do know we are both a lot more joyful than we’ve been in a long while. And that’s lovely because it times out with Koko turning 10 months in a few days. She’s still the size of a baby dinosaur, her collie self is growing ever more vigilant (deeply committed to finding Timmy in that well) and she is highly communicative - or perhaps Brian and I are getting better at learning her language. Either way, she’s a lovely sort to have around, even if she does have a thing for roots and digs some pretty impressive holes in the back yard if we’re not paying attention...
One of the things I’m most excited about is getting back to workshops and books. We needed a break. We took a long one. With a few detours along the way. But like the perennials we’ve been rather active underground, now ready for a little bit of sunshine.
Sharing this in case you could use some gentle support for whatever it is you might have been working on quietly, even if that work resembles something like resting...
wishing wellness & wonder & a solid change of seasons when you’re ready,

P.S. ‘small wishes’ is available as an art print at Flying Edna. click here to take a closer look...
P.P.S. & if you happen to be on Cape Cod in June, here’s a link to a new workshop...
